Progress Report

The Android Client Fix is coming along nicely. Right now this is what I've done:

  • Fixed the connection issues by using dnsseeder instead of IRC chat
  • Built a new checkpoint file so downloading is faster
  • Succefully sent and recieved coins
  • Fixed some of the QR scanner code
  • Performed extensive sleuthing on the KGW code, not finished but much closer
  • Cleaned up some of the lingering litecion/bitcoin references

Today ( 2015-06-02 ) I successfully sync'ed, sent and received coins, but only by bypassing the KGW checks.
I'm a bit on the fence right now because the wallet really does rely on its peers for valid blocks, so my thought is that this check is not "really" necessary. However, I'm being very cautious about this because the KGW code should work, and I'd like to know why before pulling the trigger on a release.

Left to Do:

  • Some more cleanup on the resources
  • Test its blockchain download after its been offline for a couple of days
  • Fix KGW ( Still deciding )
  • Commit to GitHub
  • Sign, Package, Release

Bitcoinj-scrypt for sexcoin, suitable for the Android build has been commited and tagged as a release on Github

Update 2015-06-07:
The Android wallet is working, and I'll release sometime this week. See last post below.

Update 2015-12-14:
Most know the current release is 0.10.9.0. This includes sync stability and EUR rate reporting.

Recent:

  • Cleaned up more resources
  • A Blockchain desync problem cropped up. Top priority issue
  • Looking into implementing a better "import keys" interface

The release is a working wallet which is on par with the litecoin and bitcoin wallets. After that release I'm going to write in a couple of features to make the wallet a little more friendly. Nothing huge; things like the ability to import private keys manually and adjust the dnsseeders. This will be the next release of the wallet which I plan on being about a month from now.

NEW Sexcoin Android Wallet is ready for the brave!

You'll need to set your device to install from untrusted sources.
Once installed, you can change that setting back.

Download the .apk here.

Instructions for users of the old wallet: BACK UP YOUR KEYS!!!

The signing key is new for this app, so you'll have to uninstall the old one first. Subsequent builds from here out will not require this.

IF YOU UNINSTALL BEFORE YOU BACK UP YOUR KEYS, YOUR COINS ARE GONE!!!!

So....BACK UP YOUR KEYS!!
Drop the main menu and select "Back up keys"
Select "backup private keys"
Set the password.
Dismiss the archive dialog
Uninstall the old app

Install the new app
Start the app and go to the main menu
Select "back up keys" again
Select "restore private keys"
Select the file you just made, (use the date tag)
Enter your password
Allow the app to reset the chain

Tips:
  • For the initial download I set a trusted peer, one that has a good network transfer rate, and select "skip Regular Peer Discovery".
This will insure that you download your blocks from one good node quickly. After the initial download is complete, turn Regular Peer Discovery back on.
  • While the block chain is initializing, it sometimes appears to hang, this is normal behavior and should resume after about 30 seconds to a minute.
  • Test your wallet with a small amount of coins, but not so small it gets counted as dust. I use between 2 and 100 coins.

This build, although much improved, is still considered new. DONT trust large amounts of coin with it until we can all see it in the wild for some time.

I have not been able to test NFC or Bluetooth features, if anyone can I'd appreciate the effort with some feedback.

If all goes well, the next build will be in about a month. And it will be a "feature build", meaning I'll add more features in.

An address doesn't exist on the block chain until it's used. So if you generate an address on your wallet, it will show as nonexistent until there are coins in it

[EDIT] After an account has had coins in it, if you spend all your coins it will show up with a zero balance.

Withdraw the coins from cryptsy to the address in your android wallet, ( the S9Eu address ). When the transaction is submitted to the block chain, it will create a record for the account and place coins in it.  If you are nervous about it, try sending a small amount first and watch the transaction on the block chain and your wallet.

Sasa, I took a closer look at this. I think the problem was my block explorer. I was working on it and forgot to turn the sexcoin client back on. It's catching up now, and should be done in about 15 minutes.

Very sorry for the confusion

[Edit] All caught up. I sent you a test ;)
